Overview

La Metro stands out as a vibrant Spanish restaurant nestled in the heart of Atlanta’s Ponce City Market. From its prime location at 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE suite 152, this small yet stylish spot offers an authentic taste of Spain with a modern touch. The compact space is thoughtfully designed, combining open-air kitchen vibes with tasteful Spanish-inspired decor that instantly sets the mood for a genuine culinary journey.

Specializing in tapas, La Metro delivers a broad array of small plates that celebrate the depth of Spanish flavors. Whether it’s the spicy kick of Patatas Bravas, the delicate crunch of Croqueta de Jamón, or the surprising delight of Bunuelo de Sunchoke, each dish feels thoughtfully crafted. Their selection also boasts intriguing choices like Sardinas and Cocas, leaning heavily into Madrid and Catalan influences. This makes it a prime destination for those eager to explore beyond the usual Spanish fare.

The experience here is much more than just food. A lively bar complements the kitchen, serving up well-chosen reds and bubbling cava that enhance the rich flavors on the plate. The staff’s warmth and knowledge enrich the atmosphere, making guests feel welcome whether they’re dining at the bar or grabbing a casual seat indoors or outdoors within Ponce City Market’s bustling food hall.

What really elevates La Metro is the genuine connection customers report with the team. From attentive servers who patiently guide diners through the menu to unexpected moments of kindness—like a bartender sharing a fun token of the restaurant's initials—the human touch infuses the entire visit with warmth and authenticity. This personalized service echoes the passion found in the kitchen and bar, making each visit feel special.

La Metro’s focus on authenticity doesn’t stop at the atmosphere or service; the menu reveals a deep respect for Spanish culinary tradition. Items such as the Basque cheesecake provide a gentle, satisfying finish to the meal, while the option of enjoying tinned seafood—prepared fresh or “Chef it Up” with expert garnishes—introduces adventurous diners to a beloved Spanish delicacy. Although some find the tinned seafood portions modest, the overall emphasis on quality and flavor shines through.

Ideal for food lovers seeking a true Spanish experience without leaving Atlanta, La Metro caters to those who appreciate shared plates, bold flavors, and a convivial setting. Whether stopping by for a light evening bite, a festive happy hour, or a casual lunch, this gem inside the food hall delivers with consistency and charm. It’s a spot that invites repeat visits and lingering conversations, all against the vibrant backdrop of Ponce City Market.

In summary, La Metro combines a curated, authentic Spanish menu with a welcoming space and attentive service that together craft a memorable dining experience. This approachable yet refined restaurant promises a genuine slice of Spain right in Atlanta, making it a must-visit for anyone eager to savor tapas, sip quality wines, and enjoy a touch of Mediterranean flair in a lively, urban setting.

Oh my goodness. What a treat of a restaurant. After randomly choosing this restaurant, we sat at the bar and had such fantastic service and food. We got a relatively small dinner, and still received service that I would call a perfect 5 stars. Water was always refilled, the food came out fast and delicious, and we were able to chat with pretty much anyone freely, and they were friendly. One stellar experience: My friend, who's initials are LM, saw their sticker, which had their restaurant's initials: LM. We actually ended up complimenting them and laughing with the bartender about the connection, and without hesitation, she cut a strip off and handed it to us, totally at a whim. She was kind, genuine, and did something that, sure, was easy - but absolutely made our night. Beyond that, we got a cheese plate that sent us into orbit with how good it was. Yes, yes, yes. We also ordered green chili cauliflower, which was a perfect spice and roasted flavor. The open-air kitchen and the authenticity that this restaurant provides make it a truly special place, which is absolutely deserving of a glowing review, and hopefully many return visits.

Honestly....I wish I had spent more of my money on Cava and Patatas than the Chicken Joint Across the aisle. The GILDA OG was being the OG! And yeah I know, Sardines, never had them before until this place and it's the stuff you see in old school cartoons. I was not disappointed in trying this offering if you wanna try something new and love salty yet balanced things then definitely order this. Then come back for some Happy Hour and you're gonna be bubbly and light on the rest of the journey at this shopping place. I got my money's worth and was satisfied and filled on 2 glasses of Cava with the Patatas! Take my money! The staff made it that much more memorable the next time I'm back in ATL I'm definitely dragging the gang here to start the day right. They knew what they were talking about, answered all questions, and are just what you would hope for when trying a new dining thing.

The restaurant is located inside the food hall of Ponce City Market, on Level 1, near Ton Ton Ramen and the Williams-Sonoma store. There are limited indoor seats, which include bar seating and some outdoor seating (still within the food hall). The restaurant is small but well-decorated with Spanish-inspired decor. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It also helps that they display actual menu items behind a glass shelf, so you can see what the food looks like. The only issue is that most of the display dishes are above eye level and are partially obscured by a black chalkboard with the dish names. The chalkboard covers half of the food display, and for shorter people like me, it’s hard to see the food at all. I had to sit on a bar stool just to get a glimpse of it. The food is tasty and served in tapas style. I don’t think the prices are unreasonable, as long as you avoid the tinned seafood, which the restaurant is known for. I went there specifically to try the tinned seafood. They offer both tinned fish and tinned shellfish. There are three ways to enjoy the tinned seafood: you can buy the can as-is and eat it fresh from the can or take it home; they can give you crackers to eat with it; or you can choose the “Chef it Up” option, where the chef prepares it for you with an additional $12 fee. I chose the third option, where the chef prepared the tinned shellfish with olive oil, minced garlic, and garnishes. The tinned razor clam cost $30 and was served in a small portion, making my dish total $42. While the tinned razor clam tasted fine, I didn’t feel it was worth the price. Aside from the tinned seafood, the rest of my order was good. The restaurant has a full bar, so they were able to make me a fruity mocktail, which we enjoyed. Our meal included: - Tinned razor clam with Chef It Up: The portion was too small, and the flavor didn’t impress. - Bocata Jamón (cured ham and pressed tomato sandwich): My boyfriend really enjoyed the sandwich. - Basque cheesecake: A soft and refreshing dessert. Note: If you order the sandwich during lunch hours, the sandwich is smaller but includes fries. If you order it outside of lunch hours, the sandwich is larger but doesn’t come with fries. Overall, we had a good experience.

They always have a smile AND are very pleasant, starting with Chef Héctor Santiago. The food NEVER disappoints and the drinks an experience too! I eat everything in the restaurant, I keep lists so I don’t repeat my orders except for the Paella and the jam croquettes, they hold a special place for me. I would have shared pictures but my plates were half eaten when I remembered… sorry! GO and experience this! You will not regret it.

Our favorite place to grab a bite in Atlanta! The food is fresh (we watched them hand cut our meets and cheeses for our charcuterie), high quality & delicious, the service is impeccable and they never make you feel rushed to turn over the table. Don't miss the Basque Cheesecake!!! A great place to eat, drink and visit with family & friends. It has become a "must" stop for us whenever we are in Atlanta.

great service and cool atmosphere although table spacing is tight if you dine in. Food was delicious but every dish I tried seemed to be a little salty. The fries were amazing!!

I went for the happy hour and got a cava and the patatas bravas. Such a beautiful place and the bartender, Lauren, was a delight. She treated me so well for my birthday! I will be coming back during my next visit in Atlanta. Thank you
